About The Shrimpers-online
Independent Southend United coverage, live match tools, history, supporter features and community — built by fans, for fans.
From a fan website in 2004 to a new Shrimpers platform
The Shrimpers-online first appeared in 2004 as a Southend United website and forum. It grew around honest match discussion, supporter humour, cult heroes and the sort of conversations that only football fans can really have.
After many years offline, The Shrimpers-online returned in 2026 with the same independent spirit but a much bigger idea: build a useful, modern Southend United supporters’ website around coverage, data, history and community.
That was the spirit of the original site in 2004. It remains the principle behind The Shrimpers-online today.

When something is wrong, we would rather correct it clearly than pretend it never happened.
Read our Editorial EthicsA supporter-built website
The Shrimpers-online was founded and is primarily run by one lifelong Southend United supporter.
The wider Blues community also shapes the site through memories, feedback, photographs, archive information, ideas and contributions.
The aim is simple: build a Southend United website that is independent, useful, enjoyable and worthy of the club’s history.
Part of the fan community, not part of the football club
The Shrimpers-online is not affiliated with Southend United Football Club or the Shrimpers Trust. It is an independent supporters’ website operating alongside the wider Southend United fan community.
That independence matters. It allows the site to celebrate the club, question things when necessary, preserve its history and build features around what supporters actually find useful.
The Shrimpers-online grows through supporters
Memories, photographs, archive details, corrections, ideas and story suggestions are always welcome.
