The Shrimpers-online aims to provide accurate, fair and reliable information for Southend United supporters. We check information before publication where practical and review content when new information becomes available.
Football news can change quickly, and historical records can sometimes contain conflicting or incomplete information. If a genuine error is identified, we will investigate it and make an appropriate correction as soon as reasonably possible.
Different situations need different treatment
Updates
Developing stories may be updated as new information becomes available. An update is not necessarily a correction if the earlier information was accurate at the time.
Clarifications
Where wording is unclear or could give a misleading impression, we may amend the content to make the meaning more precise.
Help us check it properly

Reports are reviewed on their merits
We will check the information supplied and compare it with the sources available to us. Genuine factual errors will be corrected where appropriate.
Not every disagreement results in a correction. Opinion, interpretation and reasonable editorial judgement are different from factual error.
Corrections are not a right to rewrite coverage
Requests are assessed independently and on the evidence available. We will not alter accurate information simply because a person, organisation or supporter disagrees with it.
Where a correction is justified, the priority is to leave readers with the most accurate and understandable version of the information we can provide.
