Shrimpers Tips

๐Ÿฆ Have your ticket ready for the electronic barcode turnstiles before you reach the entrance.
๐Ÿฆ Official parking is the safest choice. Free spaces are limited and the ยฃ5 overflow may be used when the main car park fills.
๐Ÿฆ Reviews regularly praise the modern facilities and friendly staff, but the official car park can take longer to clear after a busy match.
๐Ÿฆ The South Terrace is covered, but supporters seated near the edge of the West Stand may still want waterproof clothing in poor weather.

Journey Planning

Driving from Southend

Driving from SouthendA long but mostly straightforward motorway journey

Mill Farm is one of the longer away trips of the season, but most of the journey is on major roads. From Southend, the usual route is via the A127, M25, M1, M6 and M55. Leave the M55 at Junction 3 and follow the A585 towards Wesham. Allow around five hours before comfort stops and matchday traffic, and check live conditions shortly before setting off because delays around the M25, M1 and M6 can quickly add to the journey.

Before you leaveBuild extra time into the day

For a trip of this length, it is sensible to leave room for service-station stops, roadworks and queues on the final approach to Mill Farm. Sat-nav estimates can change considerably during the journey, so treat the quoted time as a starting point rather than a deadline and recheck the route before departure.

Walk from Kirkham & Wesham Station

Walking from Kirkham & WeshamAbout half a mile ยท normally 10โ€“15 minutes

Kirkham & Wesham is the nearest railway station and Mill Farm is normally around a 10 to 15-minute walk away. The distance is short enough to make rail a realistic option, although supporters should use the signed pedestrian route, cross at the proper crossing points and check live directions on the day.

Planning the train journeyMost routes connect through London and Preston

A typical journey from Southend involves travelling into London, crossing to Euston, taking a northbound service to Preston and changing for Kirkham & Wesham. The outward journey is manageable with planning, but the final connection home is the important one to check, especially for evening or rearranged fixtures.

About Mill Farm

Mill Farm is one of the more modern grounds in non-league football. AFC Fylde moved there in 2016 after leaving Kellamergh Park, with the stadium forming part of the wider Mill Farm Sports Village complex. The ground is compact, tidy and built to a high standard, with the main seated West Stand dominating the stadium and terraces completing the layout around the pitch.

Away End

When segregation is in operation, away supporters are normally placed in the covered South Terrace behind the goal, which can hold around 1,000. Visiting supporters who prefer to sit are normally allocated Block A of the West Stand, although larger fixtures can use further seating. Mill Farm uses electronic barcode turnstiles, so have the correct ticket ready before joining the queue and check the match-specific allocation before travelling.

Getting There

By car, the quickest route from the Southend area is usually via the A127, M25, M1, M6 and M55, leaving at Junction 3 for the A585 towards Wesham. An A1 option may suit some journeys if there is congestion on the A127 or around the western route. By train, supporters can travel from Southend into London, cross to Euston, take a service to Preston and then connect to Kirkham & Wesham.

Parking

The North Stand car park is normally free on a first-come, first-served basis. When it fills, AFC Fylde commonly opens an overflow car park at ยฃ5 per car. Arrangements can change for individual fixtures, so check the latest club update before setting off. Visitor reviews also warn against relying on the adjacent retail parking because time limits may apply, and the official car park can take longer to clear after busy matches.

Pubs & Food

Bradleyโ€™s Sports Bar at Mill Farm is the most convenient pre-match option when it is open to visiting supporters, with plenty of screens and food and drink available. Lane Ends on Weeton Road is the nearest established pub away from the stadium, around a ten-minute walk. Food inside the ground commonly includes pies, chips, burgers and hot dogs, while the wider Mill Farm complex has additional food outlets. Admission policies and opening times should be checked for the fixture.
