National League Sunday: Yeovil hit six again as the top seven all win
Boreham Wood maintained their seven-point lead, Southend won it late at Boston and Yeovil recorded a second successive 6–0 victory on a weekend when every club in the top seven collected three points.
Yeovil’s second successive 6–0 victory and Worthing’s five-goal display supplied the biggest margins, but narrower wins proved just as valuable elsewhere. Harrogate protected a one-goal lead at Woking, while Southend needed Sahid Kamara’s stoppage-time strike at Boston.
Further down, Hartlepool ended a six-match losing run to escape the bottom four. Gateshead and Solihull suffered heavy defeats, while a late penalty save ensured the weekend’s only draw came at Brunton Park.

Boreham Wood keep setting the standard
Boreham Wood’s 2–0 win at Sutton was their 11th victory in 13 league matches, taking Luke Garrard’s unbeaten side to 35 points.
Sutton had opportunities to make Friday’s contest uncomfortable. Brandon Njoku almost profited from an early Ted Curd error, and Omar Mussa later forced the goalkeeper into a save. Wood reached half-time level before their second-half quality made the difference.
Zak Brunt supplied both goals. Chris Bush headed his corner home in the 62nd minute, and a reverse pass released substitute Danny Cashman to secure the result with ten minutes remaining.
Bush and Cashman had also scored against Altrincham the previous weekend. Their continued contributions underline the range of threats available to the leaders: opponents cannot afford to concentrate solely on stopping their forwards.
Harrogate withstand Woking’s response
Harrogate kept second place with a 1–0 victory at Woking, decided by Ellis Taylor’s first-half finish.
Taylor struck in the 32nd minute, but the visitors had work to do to protect their lead. Luke Hutchinson saved from Aiden O’Brien soon afterwards, and Woking continued searching for an equaliser after the interval.
The Cards created pressure without finding the finish they needed. Harrogate’s fourth consecutive league victory takes them to 28 points, one ahead of Southend.
Kamara ensures Southend keep pace
Southend were heading towards a draw—and a two-point loss of ground on the clubs above them—before Sahid Kamara’s spectacular 94th-minute winner secured a 2–1 victory at Boston.
Ollie Bostock had put the hosts ahead inside the opening minute. Promise Omochere converted Josh Popoola’s cross to equalise in the 16th, before The Shrimpers had to adjust to Omochere’s injury and further changes to their side.
Lewys Twamley threatened after coming on at half-time, while Louis Chadwick repeatedly frustrated Southend. Kamara finally beat him with a left-footed strike into the top corner, opening his Southend account in memorable fashion.
The result preserves third place and extends The Shrimpers’ unbeaten away start to seven league matches. Four wins and three draws on the road have contributed 15 of their 27 points. Boston, meanwhile, drop into the bottom four.
McGavin hat-trick helps Yeovil hit six again
Yeovil followed their 6–0 win over Boston with the same scoreline at Wealdstone, where Brett McGavin scored a hat-trick and Johl Powell added two.
The margin was emphatic, but the circumstances matter. Wealdstone began with chances of their own, including an opportunity for Fejiri Okenabirhie that Jos Barker saved. The hosts then lost goalkeeper Dante Baptiste to a red card in the 25th minute after he brought down Archie Davies.
James Daly opened the scoring before half-time. Wealdstone were still only one goal behind past the hour, but Powell’s second-half breakthrough began a collapse that Yeovil exploited ruthlessly.
McGavin scored three times, completing his hat-trick with a long-range effort, before Powell added the sixth in stoppage time. A second dismissal, for Aidan Francis-Clarke, left the hosts with nine men. Endurance Johnson saved Powell’s late penalty to prevent a seventh.
Twelve goals without reply in two league matches have lifted Yeovil’s goal difference to plus 17. They remain fourth on 25 points, two behind Southend. For Wealdstone, the defensive damage is compounded by the disciplinary consequences.
Young creates, Adjetey-Brew finishes for Worthing
Worthing’s 5–0 victory over Solihull was built on a decisive spell before half-time, with Jordan Young supplying all three first-half goals.
Solihull had threatened early through Jacob Wakeling and Joe Sbarra. Once Cory Adjetey-Brew opened the scoring, however, Worthing took control.
Young then set up Razzaq Coleman De-Graft before finding Ricky Aguiar on the edge of the area from a corner. Three goals in little more than ten minutes left the visitors facing a substantial deficit at the break.
Adjetey-Brew scored again from a rebound in the second half, and returning substitute Dom Hutchinson completed the scoring with a solo effort in added time.
Worthing remain fifth with 24 points, ahead of Altrincham on goal difference. Solihull stay 23rd, with 35 goals conceded in 13 league matches.
Altrincham and Fylde protect their top-seven places
Altrincham 3–1 Aldershot Town
Altrincham returned to winning ways after their defeat at Boreham Wood, with substitutes Aidan Barlow and Leo Farrell deciding a game that Aldershot had brought back into balance.
Lewis Banks opened the scoring after combining with Jimmy Knowles. Basil Tuma equalised immediately after half-time, and the visitors threatened to take the lead, with Conor Lawless putting a good opportunity over.
The decisive passage came late. Knowles released Barlow, who was held back by Dominic Odusanya. The defender was dismissed and Barlow converted the resulting penalty in the 82nd minute.
Debutant Farrell then finished Otis Khan’s low cross in stoppage time. Neil Gibson’s changes supplied both second-half goals as Altrincham remained sixth.
AFC Fylde 2–0 Scunthorpe United
Fylde responded to defeat at Southend with a home victory that kept them seventh.
Danny Mayor scored in the 20th minute after Maison Campbell had made two saves during a goalmouth scramble. Aaron Drewe added the second in the 65th, arriving at the back post to convert Will Lancaster’s low delivery.
Campbell kept the score down with further saves, while Luca Thomas struck the woodwork late on. Scunthorpe remain 22nd on ten points, although they have played one match fewer than most of the division.
Barrow’s fifth straight win keeps the pressure on
Barrow’s 2–1 victory at Tamworth extended their winning league run to five matches and kept them within two points of the final play-off position.
Ben Winterbottom made important saves before the visitors went ahead through Rekeem Harper’s 51st-minute penalty. Harper has now scored in five successive matches.
Corey Edwards doubled the advantage ten minutes later, volleying home after Arian Allen’s work created the chance. Teo Kurtaran’s late penalty reduced the deficit, but Tamworth could not find an equaliser.
Hornchurch 2–0 Eastleigh
Hornchurch sit alongside Barrow on 21 points after goals from Dom Poleon and Jack Baldwin secured a home win.
Poleon finished a first-half counter-attack, and Baldwin headed in a corner after the break against his former club. Nick Townsend made several saves to prevent a heavier defeat for Eastleigh, who also lost captain Jordan Cousins to injury during the first half.
FC Halifax Town 4–1 Gateshead
Halifax overturned Freddie Issaka’s first-half opener with four goals after the interval.
Ben Tollitt hit the post before setting up Raheem Conte’s equaliser. Conor Carty then headed the hosts in front, with Tollitt adding a third and Conte completing his double from a tight angle in stoppage time.
Halifax move to 20 points. Gateshead remain bottom with four, having lost 11 of their 13 league matches.
Hartlepool find a way out of their losing run
Hartlepool’s 4–2 victory at Forest Green was the weekend’s most significant result near the bottom.
Jordan Hugill’s penalty in first-half added time gave Pools the lead. Nathan Sheron scored shortly after the restart, and Hugill’s second made it 3–0 before the hour.
Forest Green threatened a recovery through Omari Patrick and Kyle McAllister’s penalty, reducing the deficit to one with 20 minutes remaining.
Sheron removed the uncertainty in the 87th minute, striking from distance to complete his double. Hartlepool’s first league win in seven matches lifts them to 20th, above Boston on goal difference.
Three clubs—Wealdstone, Hartlepool and Boston—now have 12 points. Pools have escaped the bottom four, but the margins remain narrow.
Wint’s late save preserves the only draw
Carlisle and Kidderminster shared a goalless draw at Brunton Park, where Jack Wint saved Regan Linney’s 89th-minute penalty.
Both sides had earlier opportunities. Morgan Feeney’s header was cleared off the line, while Lewis Walker threatened for the visitors.
Carlisle’s best late chance came when Tom Anderson was pulled down in the area. Wint kept out Linney’s spot-kick, leaving Carlisle on 17 points and Kidderminster on 20.

The Shrimpers-online verdict
Boreham Wood’s seven-point advantage survived a weekend in which all six of their closest challengers won. The leaders have dropped only four points from 13 matches, leaving the chasing clubs little room for missed opportunities.
For Southend, that made Kamara’s winner particularly valuable. A draw would have widened the gap to Harrogate and allowed Yeovil to move within a point. Instead, The Shrimpers remain one point behind second place, with their unbeaten away record intact.
Barrow are making the strongest push from outside the play-off places. Five successive victories have brought them within two points of seventh-placed Fylde, although Hornchurch, Halifax and Kidderminster remain close enough to challenge.
At the bottom, Hartlepool’s victory offers immediate relief rather than security. They sit above Boston on goal difference, with Wealdstone also on 12 points. Gateshead and Solihull face a larger deficit and urgently need to stem the goals conceded.
The FA Cup now takes centre stage. When league action resumes, Southend’s task remains demanding: sustain their own progress while the clubs around them continue collecting points.
