Anthony Wordsworth joined Southend from Ipswich Town in summer 2015, having previously been a regular goalscoring midfielder with Essex neighbours Colchester United. He offered Phil Brown's newly promoted League One side an eye for goal from midfield, finishing 2016/17 with eleven league goals.
Wordsworth spent three seasons at Roots Hall, making 87 first-team appearances and scoring nineteen times across league and cup competitions, before moving to AFC Wimbledon in 2018.
