Tall forward Marcus Dackers became an instant talking point after scoring three times in his first six appearances on loan from Salford City in autumn 2022, with goals against Chesterfield, Wealdstone and Woking. His early loan was brief, but he made a second move back to Roots Hall in January 2024, following spells at Woking and Altrincham.
Strong in the air yet comfortable combining with team-mates, he finished with four goals across his two Southend spells.
