Paul Clark's Southend career came in two memorable chapters. He graduated from the club's youth setup, left for Brighton in 1977 and returned in 1982. He later served as caretaker manager, player-manager and assistant manager as the Shrimpers celebrated three promotions.
He finished his two playing spells with 357 appearances and seven goals before joining Gillingham in 1991.
