French midfielder Timothée Dieng joined Southend from Bradford City in summer 2018 and became one of the club's most versatile senior players. He filled roles in midfield, central defence and, when needed, further forward. Dieng was appointed captain under Sol Campbell as the Shrimpers faced relegation battles in League One and League Two.
He scored nine times across 113 competitive Southend appearances before leaving in July 2021 for Exeter City, where he went on to enjoy promotion success.
