Ashley Nathaniel-George joined Southend from Crawley Town in October 2020, adding pace and direct running to a side already facing a difficult League Two season. The winger scored twice in 32 competitive outings, although injuries and interruptions made sustained momentum difficult.

He later had a loan spell at Ebbsfleet United before leaving Roots Hall in 2022, continuing his career with Maidenhead United and subsequently York City.
