Before, during & after Southend
Albert 'Buck' Fryar, whose Southend connection included the Shoeburyness area, made forty senior appearances and scored twenty goals in the early 1930s. His inside-forward debut came against Coventry City in May 1932; his all-competition scoring rate was an impressive goal every other game.
