Winger Damian Scannell signed from Eastleigh in January 2008 and made nine substitute appearances during Southend's first play-off push. He went on to play a more regular part over the next two seasons, opening his Southend scoring against Carlisle United.
A short 2008 loan to Brentford interrupted his spell, but he returned before moving to Dagenham & Redbridge after the 2009/10 campaign. His 58 senior Southend appearances and two goals include five cup outings rather than only the League games.
