Danny Waldron earned his move to Southend after an impressive non-league journey with Alvechurch, Leamington and Rushall Olympic. He signed in January 2024 and was given an opportunity to lead the line as the embargo-hit squad began rebuilding.

Waldron scored his first Southend goal away at Maidenhead, an encouraging reward for a forward who had previously made headlines with a two-goal FA Cup performance for Alvechurch against Cheltenham Town.
