Gavin Tomlin joined from Dagenham & Redbridge in July 2012 after a successful loan at Gillingham. Comfortable up front or in an advanced midfield role, he struck up a superb partnership with Britt Assombalonga, bringing pace, hard work and important goals to the 2012/13 campaign.
He scored thirteen in 33 League Two outings, two in the FA Cup and one in the Football League Trophy, making his all-competitions record 42 games and sixteen goals. Tomlin also featured in Southend's Wembley Trophy final before moving to Port Vale in June 2013.
