Young Reading forward Hal Robson-Kanu came to Southend on loan twice during 2008. He scored three times in his first League One spell and another twice on returning for the start of 2008/09, contributing five goals in 23 first-team games overall.
A future Wales international who famously impressed at Euro 2016, he went back to Reading after the second loan before a later temporary move to Swindon Town.
