Jack Payne emerged from Southend's academy and made his competitive debut in the League Cup against Yeovil in August 2013. The lively attacking midfielder grew into one of the side's most creative players, delivering decisive moments around the 2015 play-off promotion and scoring regularly in League One the following season.
He moved to Huddersfield Town in summer 2016 after 88 competitive games and 17 goals, having collected supporters' player-of-the-year honours.
