Southend-born winger Julian Okai progressed through the youth ranks and made his one senior appearance in the FA Cup defeat at Gillingham on 7 November 2009. Still only sixteen, he replaced Francis Laurent late in the game. He did not make a Football League appearance, although he remained involved in the club's youth and reserve sides before being released in 2011.
He subsequently joined Concord Rangers and Great Wakering Rovers. The cup substitute outing counts in his senior record despite his league total being zero.
