West Ham United teenager Junior Stanislas joined Southend for a short loan in late November 2008. He made a spectacular start, scoring twice on his debut as the Shrimpers beat Luton Town in the FA Cup, then added the winner against Northampton on Boxing Day.

Across six league games and three FA Cup ties he scored three goals before returning to West Ham in January 2009. He later played in the Premier League with West Ham and Bournemouth.
