Experienced centre-half Kenny Clark signed on loan from Dagenham & Redbridge in March 2022 when injuries and Kacper Łopata's departure had left Southend short of defensive cover. Clark was already well known in Essex football through Thurrock, Chelmsford City, Dartford, Ebbsfleet and the Daggers.
His leadership and organisation gave Kevin Maher another option in a back three, and he made seven appearances, scoring once, before his short deal ended.
