Midfielder · 1988–1991
Iain O'Connell joined Southend as an apprentice in summer 1987 and was used as a winger in the 1989/90 first team. He made one start and four substitute appearances before his release and joined Dover Athletic for 1990/91, where he later developed into a defender. The old player list incorrectly printed his name as 'lan' and placed him in its 1988 intake.
