Left-back Lee Hills joined Southend on loan from Crystal Palace in March 2012 as Paul Sturrock's side fought for promotion. He started five League Two fixtures, appeared twice more as a league substitute and came off the bench in the play-off semi-final against Crewe Alexandra.

His eight Southend first-team appearances all came during that spring loan. After returning to Palace he moved to Stevenage in summer 2012.
