Full-back Luke O'Neill first came to Southend on loan from Burnley in January 2014, but an injury cut that initial visit short after one league appearance. He came back on loan in August 2015 following promotion to League One, and the move became permanent in September.
Over the ensuing two seasons he established himself in the first-team picture, scoring once in the league. Counting both loan visits and his permanent spell, O'Neill made 37 competitive Southend appearances before joining Gillingham in 2017.
