French Guianan forward Marc-Antoine Fortuné signed for Southend in September 2016 following a long career that included Celtic, West Bromwich Albion, Wigan Athletic and Coventry City. Initially given a short deal, he earned an extension and provided an experienced option up front across two League One seasons.

He made 77 competitive appearances and scored ten goals for the Shrimpers before joining Chesterfield in 2018.
