Few Southend signings have made a first impression like Richard Cadette. Signed by Bobby Moore from Leyton Orient in August 1985, he scored four times against his old club in a 5–1 opening-day win. He finished his two seasons at Roots Hall with 56 goals, helping win promotion in 1986/87, before moving to Sheffield United in July 1987.
