Tall Crystal Palace centre-half Ryan Inniss arrived at Roots Hall on a season-long loan in August 2016, after previous temporary spells with several Football League clubs. He brought an imposing physical presence at the back but his appearances were limited during the 2016/17 League One campaign.
He made twelve Southend first-team appearances without scoring, and returned to Palace at the end of the loan before further spells elsewhere, including Colchester United.
