Forward Wayne Gray moved to Southend after leaving Wimbledon in 2004, scoring 22 times over two seasons and playing a part in consecutive promotions. He was especially important during the 2005/06 title run: his late goal at Bristol City on the final day secured the League One championship. Gray joined Yeovil Town that summer.
