Since arriving at Roots Hall in the summer of 2025, Harry Boyes has become an important part of Southend United's squad. Comfortable operating as either a left wing-back or traditional full-back, Boyes brings attacking energy, Football League experience and defensive reliability to the Blues.
Biography
Born in Barnsley, Boyes began his football journey within Manchester City's academy before continuing his development at Sheffield United. Recognised for his athleticism and attacking qualities from wide areas, he progressed through the Blades' youth ranks and gained valuable senior experience through a series of loan spells.

Boyes joined Sheffield United from Manchester City and progressed through the academy system.
Bradford Park Avenue
His first taste of senior football came during a loan spell with Bradford Park Avenue.
Solihull Moors
Boyes became one of the National League's standout wing-backs during the 2021/22 season and was named in the Team of the Season.
Football League loans
He later gained League One experience with Forest Green Rovers, Lincoln City, Wycombe Wanderers and Fleetwood Town.
Southend United Career
Boyes joined Southend United as a free agent in July 2025 following the expiry of his contract with Sheffield United. He made his competitive debut away at Gateshead and quickly established himself as a regular option on the left side. A memorable moment arrived in February 2026 when he scored his first goal for Southend in a 5-1 victory over Morecambe.

Boyes is an attack-minded left wing-back who combines pace, energy and technical ability with a strong work rate. He provides natural width, quality delivery from the left and tactical flexibility as either a wing-back or full-back.
