Before, during & after Southend
Nathan Ralph arrived from Dundee in summer 2019 and became a hugely important figure at Southend through relegation from the Football League and the long rebuild in the National League. The dependable left-sided defender could also operate at centre-back and eventually wore the captain's armband for four seasons.
His final appearance was at Wembley in May 2026, leading Southend to an FA Trophy triumph over Wealdstone on penalties. After seven years at Roots Hall he joined Chelmsford City.
