Collin Andeng-Ndi Leaves Southend United As Wembley Hero Begins New Chapter At Peterborough United
For every football club there are certain players who become synonymous with a moment in history.
For Southend United, Collin Andeng-Ndi will forever be remembered as the goalkeeper who stood tall beneath the Wembley arch and helped deliver the club’s first major trophy in two decades.
Now, after five memorable years at Roots Hall, the 22-year-old has completed a move to League One side Peterborough United, bringing the curtain down on a remarkable Southend career.
From Promise To First-Team Regular
Born in Cuneo, Italy, Andeng-Ndi moved to England at the age of 14 before beginning his football journey with Basildon United.
His talent quickly caught the attention of Southend United, where he joined the academy before signing professional terms in 2021.
Over the next few seasons, the young goalkeeper developed from an exciting prospect into one of the National League’s most dependable shot-stoppers.
Still only 22 years old, he leaves Roots Hall having amassed 117 first-team appearances in all competitions, producing countless important saves and establishing himself as one of the first names on the team sheet.
The Wembley Hero Southend Will Never Forget
Every player hopes to leave supporters with lasting memories.
Collin Andeng-Ndi certainly achieved that.
The goalkeeper produced one of the defining performances of Southend United’s modern era during the 2026 FA Trophy Final against Wealdstone.
Having already made several crucial saves during 120 minutes of football, Andeng-Ndi saved two penalties in the shoot-out as Southend triumphed 4-2 to lift the FA Trophy.
His outstanding display earned him the Player of the Match award and secured his place in Shrimpers folklore.
For many supporters, those images of Andeng-Ndi celebrating in front of the Southend supporters behind the goal will remain among the club’s greatest Wembley memories.
Consistency Between The Posts
While Wembley provided the headlines, Andeng-Ndi’s contribution to Southend stretched far beyond one afternoon.
His calmness under pressure, excellent reflexes and growing confidence with the ball at his feet made him one of the National League’s standout goalkeepers.
During the 2025/26 campaign he recorded 13 clean sheets, helping Southend challenge at the top end of the table before ending the season with silverware.
Week after week he demonstrated maturity well beyond his years, often rescuing points with spectacular saves while continuing to develop into a complete modern goalkeeper.
Peterborough Opportunity
Peterborough United have now rewarded that progress by offering Andeng-Ndi the opportunity to step back into the English Football League.
The League One club have handed the goalkeeper a two-year contract, making him their third signing of the summer as they continue rebuilding their squad ahead of the new campaign.
It represents another significant step in the career of a goalkeeper whose development has been watched closely by clubs higher up the football pyramid.
A Difficult Goodbye
Replacing a player is never easy.
Replacing someone who has become such a popular figure around the football club is even harder.
Andeng-Ndi arrived at Southend as a teenager with enormous potential and leaves as an FA Trophy winner, a Player of the Match at Wembley and one of the club’s most admired players of recent years.
His departure also leaves Southend with a major decision to make between the posts as preparations continue for the 2026/27 National League season.
